ATLANTA, Ga. – The Kalamazoo College men's outdoor track and field team opened the season at the Emory Spring Break Classic this weekend in Atlanta.

The Hornets enjoyed a strong performance by a trio of runners in the 3000m, as Drew Abbott (9:00.90), Henry Cox (9:01.90) and John Lonsway (9:07.60) finished fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively. Aidan Paquin posted a time of 11.30 in the 100m.
Carson Cook impressed in the 1500m, finishing at a time of 4:03.21 to place fifth in the open category and ahead of several runners in the invitational heat. Ethan Romey led the Hornets in discus with a toss of 35.66m.
Mason Jett (1:59.20) and Cook (1:59.99) finished 14th and 20th, respectively, in the 800m out of 80 runners. Bram Derksen added a 15.93-second time in the 110m hurdles, and Devin LaMar placed 21st out of 46 throwers in the shot put at 12.88m.
Friday Results
Paquin was the fastest of six Hornets in the 200m at 22.97. Derksen led Kalamazoo in the 400m hurdle at 59.48.
Jett and Jack Schneider both qualified for the invitational heat for the 1500m, with Jett finishing at 4:07.08 and Schneider at 4:16.73.
LaMar threw a 39.96m toss on the hammer throw, and Romey kicked off Kalamazoo in the javelin with a distance of 33.97m.
Kalamazoo men's track and field will continue outdoor season and close out the spring break trip at the WashU Distance Carnival and SLU Speed/Power Festival next weekend The Distance Carnival will be Thursday and Friday, with the Speed/Power Festival on Friday afternoon.
