GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's indoor track and field team had several strong performances at the Grand Rapids Sports Hall of Fame Classic hosted by Aquinas College on Friday.
Ava King won both the 800m, at 2:22.25 in her first collegiate competition in the event, and the mile run at 5:15.16, a personal best. Maya Alkema was second in both events, at 2:24.90 in the 800m and a personal-best of 5:21.12. The Hornets swept the top four spots in the mile with Allison Meyer at 5:27.54 and Nora O'Leary at 5:27.99, both personal bests.
O'Leary was also second in the 3000m at 11:05.56, with Grace Murphy just behind her in third at a personal-best time of 11:32.44.
Gwyneth Dunaway finished second in the 200m at 27.32 for a new personal best, and fifth in the 60m dash with another personal best of 8.25 in the final. Dunaway also led off the Hornets' 4x400 team that finished third at 4:27.31, followed by Zenaida Sackett, Rachel Meston and King.
Kalamazoo women's indoor track and field is back in action next weekend at the GVSU Mike Lints Alumni Meet on Saturday, Feb. 7 starting at 1 p.m.
