Kalamazoo College thrower Zara Strauss was named MIAA Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week Tuesday.

Strauss, a freshman from Tokyo, Japan (Seisen International), placed sixth in shotput at the Trine Sean Brady Invitational this weekend with a throw of 9.84m in her first collegiate competition.

The award is the first MIAA weekly honor in Kalamazoo College women's track and field history.

The Hornets continue indoor track and field season on Friday at 1 p.m. at Grand Valley State for the Bill Clinger Classic.
