Kalamazoo College's Lucas Hanifan and Nolan Jannenga were both selected to the All-MIAA football Second Team, the MIAA announced Tuesday.
A senior wide receiver from Chelsea, Mich. (Chelsea), Hanifan was honored both as a wide receiver and as a kick returner. He led the MIAA in receptions (97) and receiving yards (1062), and his 10 touchdowns was tied for second in the conference. On returns, Hanifan averaged 22.2 yards per kick return, with the longest of his 19 returns going for 70 yards, and he had three punt returns for 48 yards.
Hannifan's 97 receptions also established a new program record, besting Jimmy Semelsberger's 96 in 2009, his 1,062 yards was sixth-most in a season, and 10 touchdowns were tied for third-most by a Hornet. He finishes his career second in Kalamazoo history in receptions (222), receiving yards (2704), and touchdowns (26).
A junior defensive lineman from Lowell, Mich. (Lowell), Jannenga was a key piece of the Hornets' defensive interior. He finished the season with 29 tackles, nine for loss and 4.5 sacks in seven games.
Jannenga is working his way up the career leaderboards at Kalamazoo as well, as his 10.5 career sacks are tied for ninth in team history.
The Hornets finished the season 4-6, going 1-6 in MIAA play.
