Men's Tennis Defeats Hope in MIAA Tournament Semifinal

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team defeated Hope College 5-1 in an MIAA Tournament semifinal match on Wednesday at Stowe Stadium to advance to Friday's tournament championship match.

Kalamazoo won two of the three doubles matches before quickly taking three singles matches to seal the win.

Gabe Vidinas/Alex Fleming won 8-2 at one doubles. Adnan Alousi/Julian Bilbao won 8-3 at two doubles.

The Hornets lost just one game in one, two and three singles.

Vidinas won 6-0, 6-0 at one singles. Alousi won 6-1, 6-0 at two singles. Fleming won 6-0, 6-0 at three.

Hope led at four and five singles when the match was determined. Seth Keana led 5-3 in the first set at six singles.

Kalamazoo will host Calvin in the tournament championship on Friday, May 3. Calvin defeated Trine 5-2 in the other semifinal on Wednesday.

The MIAA Tournament winner earns the league's automatic berth into the NCAA III Championships.
