Men's Tennis Wins MIAA Tournament Championship

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team defeated Hope 5-3 Saturday afternoon at Stowe Stadium to win the MIAA Tournament and advance to the NCAA III Championships.

Kalamazoo overcame a 2-1 deficit after doubles by winning four singles matches to win the match.

Casey Johnson/Adnan Alousi won 8-7(2) at two doubles. Peter Fitzgerald/Gabe Vidinas were narrowly defeated 8-7(6) at one doubles.

Fitzgerald won 6-0, 6-2 at two singles. Alousi won 6-2, 6-2 at three. Johnson won 6-1, 6-3 at four. Louis Landreau won the deciding match 7-6(6), 6-3 at five.

Currently ranked No. 14 in the region, Kalamazoo enters the NCAA III Championships with an 11-7 overall record.

The NCAA is scheduled to announce the tournament field and bracket during a selection show on NCAA.com on Monday, May 1, at 12:30 p.m.
