Men's Tennis Drops Season Opener to North Central

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team lost its season opener 7-2 to North Central College Friday night inside the Markin Tennis Center. Kalamazoo entered the match ranked No. 8 in the region, while the visiting Cardinals (3-0) came in ranked No. 9 in the region.

North Central swept the three doubles points including an 8-7(3) win at number one.

Kalamazoo earned wins at three and two singles to make it a 3-2 match, but the Cardinals won the last four singles matches to win the match, including three in three sets.

Peter Fitzgerald won 6-4, 6-1 at two singles. Adnan Alousi won 7-6(4), 6-1 at three.

Gabe Vidinas lost in three sets at number one, 6-3, 6-7(5), 6-4. Casey Johnson was defeated 2-6, 6-4, 6-3 atfour. Louis Landreau fell 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(5) at five.

Kalamazoo is back in action Saturday afternoon when the Hornets take on No. 20 Kenyon College. That match will take place in the Markin Center at the conclusion of the women's match which begins at 10 a.m.
