Men's Tennis Wins MIAA Tournament

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team won the 2022 MIAA Tournament with a 5-2 win over Hope inside the Markin Center Friday evening. With the win, Kalamazoo advances to the NCAA III Championships. The national bracket should be released on Monday, May 9.

Kalamazoo trailed 2-1 after doubles. Casey Johnson and Adnan Alousi won 8-2 at two doubles, but an 8-7(7) loss at number one put the Hornets behind going into singles play.

The Hornets jumped ahead early in singles with a 6-1, 6-1 win by Ian Yi at one singles and a 6-2, 6-2 win by Gabe Vidinas at two singles. Peter Fitzgerald won 6-3, 6-0 at three and Casey Johnson won 6-4, 6-0 at four to secure the win for the Hornets.

Adnan Alosui was up 4-1 at five singles, while six singles had played just one game before the match was decided.

Kalamazoo also won the MIAA regular season championship with a 7-0 league record. The Hornets are now 13-7 overall.
