Men's Tennis Wins at No. 27 Denison

GRANVILLE, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team won 5-4 in a matchup of nationally-ranked teams at Denison on Saturday.

Denison entered the match ranked No. 27 in the nation and No. 6 in the region while Kalamazoo was ranked No. 30 nationally and No. 7 in the region.

Kalamazoo led 2-1 after doubles and split the six singles matches to claim the 5-4 win.

Ian Yi/Daniel Henry won 8-5 at one doubles while Tytus Metzler/Peter Fitzgerald won 8-3 at three.

Metzler won 6-0, 6-0 at three singles to give the Hornets a 3-1 lead. Denison picked up a win by retirement at one singles before Gabe Vidinas won 6-0, retired at six giving Kalamazoo a 4-2 lead. The host Big Red followed up with three-set wins at two and four singles to even the match before Jai Banerji clinched the match for Kalamazoo with a 6-1, 7-5 win at five.

Kalamazoo improved to 4-2 with the win. The Hornets are scheduled to travel to Trinity (Texas) for their next match on March 23.
