Men's Tennis Wins 5-4 at UW-Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team won 5-4 in a key regional matchup at Wisconsin-Whitewater on Sunday.

Kalamazoo entered the match ranked No. 7 in the region (No. 27 nationally) while the host Warhawks were ranked No. 9 in the region.

Kalamazoo led 2-1 following doubles wins by Ian Yi/Daniel Henry (1) and Zack Ray/Allen Vinson (2).

The Hornets led 4-1 following straight set wins in singles by Yi (1) and Casey Johnson (5), but Whitewater won at two and three singles before winning in three sets at four. The match was decided by Alex Cadigan's three-set win at six singles, 6-7(5), 6-4, 6-1.

Kalamazoo (11-6) returns to action at home on Thursday, May 2 as the No. 1 seed in the MIAA Tournament. The Hornets host Adrian in a semifinal match scheduled for 4 p.m. The winner of the MIAA Tournament receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championships.
