Men's Tennis wins 5-4 at No. 39 UW-Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team defeated Wisconsin-Whitewater 5-4 on Sunday.

The Hornets entered the match ranked No. 23 in the nation and fourth in the region while the Warhawks were ranked No. 39 nationally and seventh in the region.

Whitewater held a 2-1 advantage after doubles including an 8-7(5) win at three. Branden Metzler and Elan Dantus won 8-6 at one.

Metzler earned a 6-2, 6-2 win at one singles to even up the team score. Kalamazoo took a 4-2 lead after wins by Allen Vinson at five (6-2, 6-2) and Eric De Witt at four (6-4, 6-2), and Noah Karoub clinched the match for the Hornets with a 2-6, 6-4, 6-2 win at six singles.

Whitewater won the final two matches in three sets each to make the final 5-4.

Kalamazoo (11-1) returns to conference play at Hope College on Thursday, April 13.
