Men's Tennis defeats Alma in MIAA Tournament semifinal

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team defeated Alma College 5-0 in an MIAA Tournament semifinal match on Thursday at Stowe Stadium.

Kalamazoo swept the three doubles points before wins by Robert Hudson at three singles and Kyle Hahn at six linched the win.

Eric De Witt and Guillermo Dominguez opened the match with an 8-3 win at three doubles. David DeSimone and Elan Dantus followed with an 8-2 win at two doubles while Branden Metzler and Robert Hudson completed the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win at one.

Kalamazoo had won the first set in all six singles matches and was winning in each of the second sets before the match outcome was determined. Hudson won 6-1, 6-1 at three singles while Hahn won 6-1, 6-0 at six. Metzler was up 5-3 and at match point when the match was called.

Kalamazoo will host the winner of today's Adrian/Calvin match in the tournament championship on Friday at 4 p.m. The tournament champion earns an automatic bid to the NCAA III Championships.
