KALAMAZOO - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team defeated Albion College, 5-0, in the MIAA Tournament semifinals on Thursday to advance to Friday's championship match.
Kalamazoo will face Calvin, a 5-4 winner of the other semifinal match over Hope. The Hornets are the top seed in the tournament and will host Friday's championship match at 4 p.m.
Kalamazoo swept the three doubles points against Albion before finishing the match with wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles.
Stephen Hanselman and Peter Rothstein won 9-8(7) at No. 1 doubles. Alan Faber and David DeSimone won 8-2 at No. doubles while Robert Hudson and Mike Korn won 8-3 at No. 3 doubles.
Hudson won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 5 singles while Faber clinched the final point with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 6 singles.
The winner of Friday's championship match earns the league's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championships.
