SWARTHMORE, Pa. – The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team played Rutgers-Newark to a 1-1 tie Friday night at Swarthmore College's Clothier Field Stadium.
The Scarlett Raiders scored the game's first goal in the 37
th minute and carried the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Kalamazoo evened the score in the 52
nd minute on a goal by
Ryan Clark following passes by
Eamonn Burns up the right side and
Lucas Ruiz to the left post. Neither team was able to score over the final 38 minutes.
Kalamazoo outshot Rutgers-Newark 10-7 overall, 4-3 on goal. The Scarlett Raiders held a 4-3 edge in corner kick opportunities.
Darius Wright III was credited with two saves in goal for the Hornets.
Kalamazoo (1-0-1) plays again on Sunday at 12 p.m. against the host Swarthmore College Garnet.
