GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's cross country team finished seventh at the Calvin Knight Invite Saturday.
The meet consisted of 10 teams ranging from NCAA Division II to NAIA. Grand Valley State won the 6K women's event with each of the top five finishers.
Nora O'Leary was the Hornets' top finisher, placing 28th at 23:08.2.
Grace Murphy finished 44th at 24:08.4. Cate Cotter finished at 25:27.1.
The race was a strong step forward for Kalamazoo, with each of the team's eight runners beating their mark from last Friday's season-opener at Michigan State University.
"With very muddy and slick course conditions we focused on resilience, fun and progress a week after our opener," Head Coach Kyle Morrison said. "Across both teams almost every runner had a sizable drop from last week to this weekend despite the slow course conditions."
The Hornets' next race will be the Pre-Nationals meet hosted by Carleton College in Northfield, Minn., the site of this year's NCAA III Cross Country National Championships.
