Women's Cross Country Continues to Impress at Augustana Interregional

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - The Kalamazoo College women's cross country team finished 13th in the Blue Division at the Augustana Interregional on Saturday.

The Blue Division consisted of 29 teams. Wisconsin-La Crosse won the event with four of the top five finishers.

Nora O'Leary set a new personal best in the 6k of 22:22.5, finishing seventh in a field of over 300 runners.

Grace Murphy added a season-best 23:48.7 as the next Hornet across the line. Cate Cotter finished with a new personal best as well at 24:25.6.

In total, seven of 10 Kalamazoo runners earned a season or lifetime best mark.

"We had 26 runners compete today and we had amazing performances across the board in very competitive fields," head coach Kyle Morrison said, referring to both the men's and women's teams. "22 runners ran season or lifetime bests. It was another major step forward and big shot of confidence heading into the MIAA meet in two weeks."

The Hornets return to Michigan for the MIAA Cross Country Championships in two weeks on Saturday, Oct. 31 in Marshall. The women's race will be held at 11 a.m., followed by the men's race at noon.
