ANDERSON, Ind. - Behind a five-touchdown day from Brayden Ledin, the Kalamazoo College football team picked up a 42-17 win at Anderson Saturday evening in a non-conference contest.

The Hornets are now 1-2 on the season as John Krajacic picked up his first win as head coach of the Hornets.

After forcing a punt to open the game, Kalamazoo went 55 yards on four plays for a quick 7-0 advantage. Ledin hit Aaron Zekman for a 14-yard gain to get things going. Moments later, the two connected for a 20-yard touchdown strike. Cameron Lewis hit the extra point for the seven-point advantage. 

Leading 7-3, the Hornets went back to work. It took just 11 plays to march 72 yards for a 14-3 lead. Thomas Shemwell completed the drive with a four-yard touchdown run. 

Forcing a three-and-out, Kalamazoo took over at the eight-yard line. Ledin found Carson Chapin for a 32-yard gain. Then, he hit a deep pass to Gary Jones Jr., for a 60-yard touchdown and 21-3 margin. The visitors recovered a fumble and quickly scored when Zekman hauled in an eight-yard pass at the 8:17 mark. The Hornets maintained a 28-10 edge at halftime. 

Leading 28-17 in the fourth frame, the Hornets used just 1:43 off the clock for a score. Ledin connected with Aravind Krishnan for a 13-yard strike. After forcing a turnover on downs, Ledin went back to work and hit Hayden Johnston for a deep pass, resulting in a 27-yard touchdown and a 42-17 advantage.  

For the game, Kalamazoo recorded 26 first downs, including 14 passing and seven rushing. The team was 8-of-12 on third downs and did not allow Anderson to pick up a third down (0-11). The Hornets accounted for 436 yards of total offense, including 343 through the air. 

Ledin hit 28-of-33 for 337 yards and five touchdowns. Zekman hauled in seven catches for 81 yards with two touchdowns. Jones Jr. had a 60-yard touchdown reception. Johnston and Krishnan also had touchdown catches while Josh Anderson II had eight receptions for 60 yards. Shemwell had a touchdown run. 

Defensively, Raymond Cargill had seven tackles while Grant Anderson totaled six. Drew Fortino and Zach Sykes had five tackles apiece. The Hornet defense combined for five sacks of 31 yards.

The Hornets return to action Saturday, Sept. 26, when they host Trine in the MIAA opener at 6 p.m.
