KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team won, 2-0, over NAIA foe Goshen College Wednesday at MacKenzie Field.
Savannah Norman put the Hornets on top early, punching home a cross from Anna Courtney in the 15th minute. Kalamazoo took that 1-0 lead into halftime, outshooting Goshen 9-2 overall and 5-1 in shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes.
The Hornets added an insurance goal in the 69th minute as Callie Abair scored her first goal of the season. Anna Courtney laid the ball into the box to start the play, where Kearsten Schultz sent it left to right on a header for Abair to drive it home.
Jess Forbis made one save in the match as Kalamazoo outshot the Maple Leafs 23-3 overall and 10-1 in shots on goal. The Hornets took seven corner kicks to three for Goshen.
Kalamazoo (5-2-1) next plays in two weeks' time for its MIAA opener against The University of Olivet (1-3-1) on Wednesday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. at MacKenzie Field.
