NOTRE DAME, Ind. – The Kalamazoo College volleyball team was defeated in five sets in a non-conference match at Saint Mary's College Wednesday night.
Saint Mary's won the first and third sets before Kalamazoo's wins in the second and fourth forced a decisive fifth set. Kalamazoo took a 4-1 lead in the fifth before falling 15-9 in the end.
Saint Mary's hit .219 in the match compared to .164 by Kalamazoo. Each team had seven aces in the match.
Quaneice Dillard led Kalamazoo with 18 kills and 17 digs.
Taylor Stephens finished with 16 kills and 16 digs.
Mya Parks added 12 kills with five digs and three blocks.
Savannah Chapie had seven kills with two block assists. Cienna Nightengale also had seven kills.
Makala Goddard led the Hornets with 49 assists and 15 digs.
Kalamazoo and Saint Mary's play their conference game on Oct. 3 in Kalamazoo.
The Hornets return to action Friday and Saturday with three matches at Ohio Wesleyan University.
