KALAMAZOO, Mich.– The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team won its 2026 home opener Friday, 2-0, over Oberlin College at MacKenzie Field.
The Hornets had eight shots, including three on goal, in the first half but could not score as they saw one shot go off the left post and another ricochet off the crossbar in the opening 45 minutes. The score remained 0-0 at the break.
Brody Plumstead broke the scoreless tie in the 51st minute, charging the box to capitalize on a play set up by Nico Scorsone and smash the ball into the top-right corner of the net.
In the 86th minute, Plumstead struck again as Lucas Ruiz sent a cross from the right side into the box for the sophomore to bury it.
Kalamazoo outshot the Yeomen, 14-8 overall and 7-3 in shots on goal. Darius Wright III made three saves to record his first collegiate shutout and improve his record to 2-0-1 on the year.
Kalamazoo men's soccer (2-1-1) continues action at home on MacKenzie Field Saturday against the #20 University of Chicago (3-1) at 3 p.m.
