OLIVET, Mich.– The Kalamazoo College baseball team lost at The University of Olivet Friday, 6-1.
The game remained scoreless through the first six innings, but Olivet broke through with three runs in the seventh. The Comets added three more in the eighth to make it 6-0.
Cade Preissing doubled in the ninth inning, and Clay Cook pinch ran for him and scored, but the Hornets were unable to rally. Olivet outhit Kalamazoo, 6-3, in the win.
Preissing had two of the Hornets' three hits. Carson Orvis was strong on the mound despite the loss, allowing three runs (one earned) in seven innings with eight strikeouts.
Kalamazoo (29-8, 13-6) will look to bounce back as the Hornets return home to finish the series against Olivet (16-19, 8-11) at home on Saturday for a doubleheader at Woodworth Field starting at 1 p.m. It will be Senior Day and the Compete for a Cause Game.
