HOLLAND, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team came back to beat Hope College Tuesday, 12-10.
Hope started strong, taking a 4-1 lead after the first quarter. Both teams added three goals in the second to make it 7-4 in favor of the Flying Dutch at halftime.
The Hornets got one back in the third, but still trailed 8-6 heading to the final frame. Kalamazoo charged offensively in the fourth quarter, scoring six goals to steal the win.
Ella Spooner scored five goals and collected four draw controls. Jordan Doyle (1 goal, 4 assists) and Abbie Caza (2 goals, 3 assists) both had five points, with Doyle also causing two turnovers.
Tessa Fuller had two goals, including the game-winner with 3:02 left, while Sophie Hartl added two goals and an assist. Kennedy Hynde picked up seven draw controls, and her three ground balls tied Marin Miroslavich and Mackenzie Newhall for the team high.
Kaitlyn Grice put together a strong performance in net for Kalamazoo, making 12 saves in the win.
Kalamazoo women's lacrosse continues the road trip on Saturday in Grand Rapids, Mich. against Calvin University, with game time scheduled for 1 p.m.
