GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team fell at Calvin University Saturday, 12-9.
Calvin took a 3-2 lead after the first quarter, and maintained a narrow lead at halftime, 6-5. The Knights scored four in the third to bring the lead to 10-7 before both teams scored twice in the fourth quarter.
Tessa Fuller was Kalamazoo's leading scorer with two goals and two assists. Abbie Caza scored two goals with one assist, while Sophie Hartl also scored twice along with four ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Annslee Ware led the Hornets' defensive effort with four caused turnovers, scoring a goal with two ground balls. Jordan Doyle (1 goal, 1 assis) and Ella Spooner (1 goal) rounded out the scoring for Kalamazoo, while Kennedy Hynde chipped in three draw controls and three ground balls.
Kaitlyn Grice had a great effort in goal, making 18 saves in defeat.
Kalamazoo women's lacrosse heads to Angola, Ind. to face Trine University on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
