ALBION, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team beat Albion College in the regular season finale Tuesday, 22-9. The win ties the Hornets' most MIAA wins in a season in program history, going 5-2 in conference play.
Kalamazoo charged out of the gate with 11 goals in the first quarter, and extended the lead to 14-3 at halftime. The Hornets outscored Albion 8-6 in the second half as well.
Abbie Caza had a huge performance in the win with a season-high seven goals and one assist. Tessa Fuller added four goals and three assists, while Jordan Doyle had two goals and a team-high four assists.
Sophie Hartl led the Hornets with 10 draw controls, adding four goals and one assist. Ella Spooner chipped in all over the field with three goals, one assist, four draw controls and three caused turnovers.
Mackenzie Newhall had three caused turnovers and three ground balls. Annslee Ware added three ground balls, two caused turnovers, one goal and one assist.
Kaitlyn Grice made nine saves in goal to earn the win.
Kalamazoo women's lacrosse finished fourth in the MIAA at 5-2 in conference play and 9-8 overall. The Hornets will host the first round of the MIAA Tournament on Saturday, with their opponent and game time yet to be determined.
