KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team lost a nail-biter against Albion Saturday at MacKenzie Field, 8-7, on Senior Day. In the loss, Jack Bungart became the MIAA's all-time leader in caused turnovers, with 63 in conference contests in his career.
Albion started hot, leading 4-0 after the first quarter. The Hornets started to come back with two goals in the second to make it a 4-2 deficit at halftime.
Kalamazoo scored two more goals in the first two minutes of the third frame to tie it at four, and both sides traded goals the rest of the quarter to stay tied, 6-6, to the fourth. After the Hornets scored first in the final period, the Britons scored back-to-back goals and hung on for the win.
Max Plesscher led the Hornets with two goals and an assist. Dylan Adkins, Teige Bredin and Ronin Honda each had one goal and one assist, with Adkins adding three ground balls.
Bungart picked up a team-high eight ground balls, with two turnovers and a goal. Lukas Graff had a big game on defense, causing five turnovers by Albion.
Tony Valade made 12 saves for a .600 save percentage in a losing effort in goal.
Kalamazoo men's lacrosse travels to Grand Rapids, Mich. to face Calvin University Wednesday at 7 p.m. for the regular season finale.
