KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The No. 10 Kalamazoo College baseball team defeated No. 23 Adrian College 13-1 in seven innings on Sunday to win the season series.
Kalamazoo scored two runs in the bottom of the second before exploding for eight runs in the bottom of the third to take a 10-0 lead, highlighted by
Jackson Isaacs' 3-run home run in the third. Kalamazoo added three runs in the fifth highlighted by back-to-back home runs by
Ryar Rinehart and
Caleb Moore followed by an
Austin Keur RBI double.
Despite putting 10 hits on the board, Adrian's only run came on a solo home run in the top of the seventh. Kalamazoo had 12 hits in the contest, while also taking advantage of six walks and four hit batters.
Robert Newland,
Ryar Rinehart and
Austin Keur each had two hits in the game. Isaacs drove in three runs followed by
Cade Preissing and Rinehart each with two RBIs.
Jack Friesen had a double and scored three runs in the game.
Robert Ahlgren earned the win in five innings of relief, allowing one run with six strikeouts and one walk.
The Hornets are scheduled to play a single game next at Calvin on Tuesday, April 14, at 4 p.m.
