SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team lost at NAIA #10 Lawrence Tech Wednesday, 14-11.
After the first quarter, the score was tied 4-4. LTU took a 9-7 lead at halftime and pushed the advantage to 13-8 heading to the fourth quarter.
The Blue Devils scored first in the final frame before the Hornets scored three goals in a row in a comeback effort that ultimately fell short.
Ella Spooner and Abbie Caza led Kalamazoo with five points each, both with two goals and three assists. Spooner added six draw controls, four ground balls and a team-high three caused turnovers.
Sophie Hartl scored four goals in defeat, while Kennedy Hynde earned eight draw controls to lead the Hornets along with a goal and two assists. Jordan Doyle scored two goals with five ground balls.
Kaitlyn Grice recorded nine saves in net for the Hornets.
Kalamazoo women's lacrosse returns home to play Kenyon College on Friday, March 13 at 6 p.m. at MacKenzie Field.
