KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team lost against Kenyon College Friday at MacKenzie Field, 23-5.
Kenyon took a 6-3 lead after the first quarter, stretching the advantage to 13-3 at halftime. The Owls kept pushing in the second half, scoring five goals in the third and outscoring the Hornets 5-2 in the final frame.
Ella Spooner led Kalamazoo with two points on one goal and one assist. Sophie Hartl, Tessa Fuller, Kennedy Hynde and Abbie Caza had one goal apiece.
Hynde added a team-high eight draw controls, while Annslee Ware had two ground balls. Kaitlyn Grice made 10 saves in goal for the Hornets.
Kalamazoo women's lacrosse heads out west for its spring break trip, with the team's first game scheduled at Whitworth University on Thursday at 7 p.m. (4 p.m. PDT) in Spokane, Wash.
