LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team was defeated, 13-6, by Carthage College on the road Wednesday.
Carthage took a 2-1 lead after the first quarter, and pushed the advantage to 4-2 at halftime.
The Firebirds kept charging in the second half, pulling away to 9-2 before Kalamazoo pushed back with three straight goals to make it 9-5 in the fourth. Carthage scored four of the last five goals to secure the win.
Jake Asnis led the Hornets with two goals and one assist, adding two ground balls. Tate Bless scored one goal with an assist.
Ryan Everham, Ronin Honda and Tiege Bredin scored one goal each, with Everham going 5-for-8 on faceoffs and adding four ground balls. Brody Quinn led Kalamazoo with six ground balls, going 10-for-15 in faceoffs.
Tony Valade made 14 saves in defeat.
Kalamazoo men's lacrosse (4-4) wraps up the spring break trip and non-conference play Saturday at 2 p.m. (1 p.m. CT) at Carroll University (3-7) in Waukesha, Wis.
