Kalamazoo College distance runner Maddie Hanulcik was named MIAA Women's Track Athlete of the Week on Monday (March 23).
A senior from Ionia, Mich. (Ionia), Hanulcik shined in the 800m this weekend at the Emory Spring Break Classic, kicking off the Hornets' 4x800m relay team that finished second overall at 9:57.21 along with running the 800m herself at 2:26.41 to finish 21st out of 78 runners.
The honor is the first MIAA weekly award for Hanulcik in her career, and she has been named to the MIAA Academic Honor Roll three times for cross country.
Kalamazoo women's track and field is back in action at the WashU Distance Carnival Thursday and Friday in St. Louis, Mo., with events kicking off at 5:15 p.m. CT Thursday and 3:45 p.m. CT on Friday.
