CLERMONT, Fla. – The Kalamazoo College softball team lost to Middlebury and #21 DePauw Monday at Legends Way.
Game 1 - Middlebury 4, Kalamazoo 1
After Maddie Potts held Middlebury scoreless through six innings, the Hornets finally broke through for the first run of the game in the bottom of the sixth. Ella Neumann singled home London Rabb, who had pinch ran for Grace Rocco after she hit a double.
The Panthers stormed back in the seventh, scoring four runs to take the win. Middlebury outhit Kalamazoo 7-5.
Landrie Fridsma, Macy Ward, Jaycee Rider, Neumann and Rocco had one hit each for the Hornets.
Game 2 – DePauw 12, Kalamazoo 7
After an RBI single by Rider made it 1-0 Kalamazoo in the top of the first, DePauw scored eight runs in the bottom half. Both teams added one run in the second to make it 9-2.
The Hornets fought back with three runs in the third as Alyssa Hinkley doubled home a pair and came around to score on a throwing error. Kalamazoo scored again in the fifth to make it 9-6 on a run-scoring single by Rabb.
The Tigers added three runs in the bottom of the sixth before the Hornets added one more in the seventh.. DePauw outhit Kalamazoo, 14-9, in the win.
Rider had three hits and three RBI for the Hornets, while Robb also collected a pair of hits. Emma Newlove and Hinkley scored two runs each.

Kalamazoo is back on the field at Legends Way in Clermont Tuesday against MIT (10 a.m.) and Luther College (12:15 p.m.).
