DAVENPORT, Fla.– The Kalamazoo College baseball team powered its way to a 16-1 win over Carleton College on Saturday.
The Hornets scored in each of the first four innings, pushing across four in the second and six in the fourth to take a 12-0 advantage.
Kalamazoo added four more in the bottom of the sixth on the first collegiate home runs by Dillon Rodriguez and Daniel Beccari, both two-run shots.
Carleton scored its lone run on a wild pitch in the seventh.
Austin Keur led the Hornets with two hits including a double, scoring two runs and driving in three. Robert Newland had two runs, two RBIs and three stolen bases.
Jacob Davis was strong on the mound, throwing five scoreless innings on just two hits and no walks with four strikeouts, improving to 2-1 on the season. Kalamazoo tied a program record with eight hit by pitch in the win.
Kalamazoo (14-2) continues the RussMatt Invitational facing Elmhurst University (5-8) Tuesday at 11 a.m.
