HOLLAND, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost, 75-62, at Hope College Wednesday.
Hope took a 36-33 lead after a tight first half, shooting 46.7% from the field and 50.0% from three-point range in the opening 20 minutes. The Hornets shot 43.8% from the field and 27.3% from deep in the first half.
The Flying Dutchmen kept a slim lead throughout most of the second half, holding off Kalamazoo in the closing minutes for the victory. Hope finished shooting 50.0% from the field, 41.2% for three, and had a 37-31 advantage in rebounds. The Hornets wound up at 41.7% from the field and 18.2% from beyond the arc.
Lucas Hanifan, Patrick Perez and JJ Stevens contributed 13 points each for Kalamazoo. Perez added five rebounds, while Hanifan had two assists and two steals.
Carter Bandemer had 10 points and tied Jackson Keefer for the team lead in rebounds with six.
Kalamazoo men's basketball continues MIAA play at Calvin University Saturday at 3 p.m.
