KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost against Adrian College Wednesday, 95-74, at Anderson Athletic Center in the team's second annual Military Appreciation Game.
The Hornets started strong, leading 38-29 with five minutes left in the first half, but Adrian went on a run to take a 45-40 lead into halftime. The Bulldogs shot 46.7% from the field and 46.2% from three-point range, while Kalamazoo was 39.5% from the field, 38.5% from deep and had a 23-21 advantage in rebounds.
Adrian remained strong in the second half, pulling away in the closing minutes to secure the victory. The Bulldogs finished the game at 50.8% from the field and 47.8% for three. The Hornets were 39.4% from the field and 34.8% from long range.
Lucas Hanifan led Kalamazoo in scoring with 23 points along with three rebounds and three steals. Carter Bandemer picked up 11 points, four rebounds and a pair of steals.
Connor Kouki scored eight points with three assists and two rebounds before fouling out. Jackson Keefer and Patrick Perez tied for a team-high eight rebounds, with Keefer scoring seven points to six for Perez.
At halftime, the Hornets honored military veterans Chris Carter II (Navy), Juan M. Gonzalez (Air Force, Michigan National Guard), and Andrew Schwengel (Navy).
