OLIVET, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team won 61-51 at The University of Olivet Saturday afternoon.
Kalamazoo trailed 17-10 after the first quarter and 26-23 at halftime. The Hornets continued to battle back and led 43-42 at the end of the third quarter. It was still a two-point game (48-46) with 6:50 remaining before the Hornets pulled away to the final.
Kalamazoo shot 34.6 percent overall compared to 31.6 percent by Olivet. Each team had 41 rebounds.
Ruby Hogan led Kalamazoo with 24 points, six rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Lauren Vanderstelt scored 12 points with 13 rebounds and three assists. With three blocked shots today, Vanderstelt became Kalamazoo's career leader at 138.
Taylor Dinda added nine points with six rebounds and four steals.
Semaj' Robertson scored eight points with three rebounds.
Sophia Moir finished with seven points and seven rebounds.
Kalamazoo returns home to face Saint Mary's on Wednesday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m.
