Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Comes up Short at Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost, 81-62, at Trine University Wednesday.

Trine took a 53-22 lead at halftime behind 57.1% shooting from the field and 50.0% from three-point range. The Hornets were 31.0% from the field with no three-pointers, holding a slim 19-18 advantage in rebounds including eight offensive boards to five for the Thunder.

Kalamazoo charged out of the locker room with a 23-9 run, making four of its first five three-point attempts of the second half, to eat into the deficit. Trine recovered from that point, though, and came away with the victory. The Thunder shot 45.1% from the field and 36.4% from deep, while the Hornets were 40.4% from the field and 22.7% for three.

Patrick Perez led Kalamazoo with 18 points, nine rebounds and two steals. Lucas Hanifan added 12 points and three assists.

Jackson Keefer had eight points, while Nelson Sompa, Caleb Coates and JJ Stevens all had six.

Kalamazoo men's basketball returns home to face The University of Olivet Saturday at 3 p.m. at Anderson Athletic Center.
