ALMA, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team won 68-64 at Alma College Saturday afternoon.
Kalamazoo led 12-7 after the first quarter and 31-24 at halftime.
Alma cut the deficit to two (55-53) with 5:24 left in the fourth but was unable to tie or gain the lead as the Hornets held on for the win.
Kalamazoo shot a season-best 43.6 percent overall compared to 38.3 percent by the Scots. The Hornets sank 8-of-21 three-pointers compared to 5-of-14 by Alma. Kalamazoo made 12-of-22 free throws. Alma made 13-of-22. Kalamazoo held a 33-28 advantage in rebounds.
Sophia Moir led Kalamazoo with a career-high 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting and 5-of-6 at the line with three steals.
Ruby Hogan scored 15 points with six rebounds and six assists.
Lauren Vanderstelt added 13 points with 14 rebounds and seven blocked shots.
Semaj' Robertson finished with nine points and three assists.
Kalamazoo returns home to face Trine University on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 7 p.m.
