HOLLAND, Mich – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was defeated 74-42 at No. 7 Hope College Wednesday night.
Hope scored the first eight points of the game and led 18-9 after the first quarter. Kalamazoo trailed by five (25-20) with 6:28 left in the second quarter before Hope closed out the half on an 18-0 run to take a 43-20 lead into halftime.
The Flying Dutch shot 39.7 percent overall compared to 30.9 percent by Kalamazoo. Hope also made 19-of-25 free throws compared to 3-of-7 by the Hornets. Hope held a 43-38 advantage in rebounds.
Sophia Moir and
Taylor Dinda each scored eight points to lead the Hornets offensively.
Ruby Hogan scored seven points with five assists.
Semaj' Robertson added seven points off the bench.
Lauren Vanderstelt was held scoreless but grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds with four blocked shots.
Kalamazoo travels to Alma College for its next contest on Saturday, Jan. 24, at 1 p.m.
