KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team overcame an eight-point deficit at halftime to beat The University of Olivet 55-45 at home Saturday afternoon.

Kalamazoo scored the first five points of the game but trailed 19-10 after the first quarter. Kalamazoo outscored Olivet 11-10 in the second to trail 29-21 at halftime.

Kalamazoo cut the deficit to one early in the third quarter but still trailed 40-34 after three. A pair of three-pointers by Ruby Hogan and Sophia Moir tied the game at 40-40 with 7:41 remaining. Another three by Hogan put the Hornets on top, and another three by Moir made it 46-40 with 6:14 on the clock. Olivet cut it to two (47-45) with 2:41 remaining but did not score another point in the closing minutes.

Kalamazoo shot 36.2 percent overall and made 8-of-26 three-pointers. Olivet shot 28.8 percent and made 2-of-15 three's. The Comets went 13-of-18 at the free throw line compared to 5-of-11 by Kalamazoo. The Hornets outrebounded Olivet 47-31 including 14-4 on the offensive end.

Sophia Moir led Kalamazoo with 13 points, five rebounds and three assists.

Ruby Hogan scored 12 points with 11 rebounds and five assists. Taylor Dinda scored 12 points with four rebounds, three assists and two steals.

Semaj' Robertson added 10 points with seven rebounds. Lauren Vanderstelt finished with eight points, 12 rebounds, three assists, three steals and four blocked shots.

Kalamazoo returns to action next Wednesday, Jan. 21, at Hope College.
