KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost, 81-47, against #16 Calvin University Wednesday at Anderson Athletic Center.
Calvin took a 36-17 lead at halftime, shooting 53.8% from the field and 42.9% from three-point range. The Hornets were 17.1% from the field and 14.3% from deep and led the rebound battle 24-18 at the midway point, including a 13-1 advantage in offensive boards.
The Knights continued their hot shooting performance in the second half, finishing the game at 54.7% from the field and 32.1% from beyond the arc. Kalamazoo shot better after halftime and finished at 23.3% from the field and 16.7% for three. The Hornets had 39 rebounds to 37 for Calvin including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds.
Connor Kouki led Kalamazoo with 13 points, five rebounds and two steals, knocking down a career-high three three-point baskets. Carter Bandemer added eight points and four rebounds.
Jackson Keefer picked up seven points and tied for the team high in rebounds with six. Lucas Hanifan also had six rebounds to go along with five points, two assists and two steals, while Nelson Sompa led the Hornets with four assists, adding four points and four rebounds.
Kalamazoo men's basketball (3-11, 0-3 MIAA) hits the road to play at The University of Olivet (5-9, 2-1) Saturday at 3 p.m.
