KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team defeated Beloit College 4-0 in the season opener for both teams on Saturday.
Elle Bernas scored Kalamazoo's first goal in the sixth minute off a throw-in from
Savannah Norman.
Mia Crites scored in the 19th minute off a rebounded shot by
Ruby Hogan. Hogan scored off a free kick in the 38th minute to give Kalamazoo a 3-0 lead heading into halftime.
Hogan scored again in the 57th minute with an assist from Bernas.
 Kalamazoo outshot Beloit 35-5 overall including 15-1 on goal. The Hornets also had 11 corner kick opportunities to Beloit's one.
Jess Forbis was credited with one save in goal in the shutout.
Kalamazoo returns to action on Wednesday, Sept. 3, at Oberlin.
