Emiliano Alvarado Rescala of the Kalamazoo College men's golf team was named a Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Tuesday, July 29.
To be eligible for Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar nomination, an individual must be a sophomore, junior, or senior both academically and athletically in NCAA Division I, II, III, and NAIA, or receiving their associate's degree and in their last year of athletic eligibility in the NJCAA. In addition, they must participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 79.0 in NCAA Division III, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at their college or university.
A sophomore from Lerma, Mexico, Alvarado Rescala led the Hornets with a 76.4 average this past season. He shot a season-best 72 at three events and has a career average of 77.0 after two seasons. Alverado Rescala is seventh different Hornet golfer to be recognized with this award since 2016-17. He also earned College Sports Communicators Academic All-District honors in June.
The GCAA recognized 202 NCAA Division III athletes from 78 schools with 2024-25 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar honors.
