Emiliano Alvarado Rescala of the Kalamazoo College men's golf team was named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, as announced on Tuesday, June 18
th.
To earn this honor, the student-athlete must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, and have played at least 90% or start in 66% of their team's competitions, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.
Rescala, a sophomore from Lerma, Mexico, led the Hornets this year, averaging 76.4 over 14 matches this season.
Earlier this season, he took the medalist honors at the Westminster Invitational in March in Fulton, Missouri, where he shot a 155 (80-75). The Hornets won the Westminster Invitational with a total of 632.
At the Bob Ebels Invitational in April, Rescala tied for sixth place overall in a competitive field of 73 golfers, which included teams from three Division II schools. He recorded a 72 on Friday and a 75 on Saturday, finishing with a two-day total of 147.
In the two-day MIAA Spring Finale, he led the Hornets with a total of 160 (81-79) to finish 25
th overall, while Kalamazoo placed eighth.
