Mark Riley, Kalamazoo College's head men's tennis coach, was named Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association (MIAA) Men's Tennis Coach of the Year today. This marks the second consecutive year he has received the honor, having also earned the award in 2024.
Riley guided the Hornets to the MIAA regular season championship with a 7-0 conference record before winning the MIAA Tournament title and advancing to the NCAA III Championships. Kalamazoo finished 15-6 overall and is currently ranked No. 57 in the nation.
"This honor isn't possible without our outstanding student-athletes, administrators, trainers and the entire Kalamazoo College community," commented Riley. "I would like to especially thank our assistant men's coach,
Jimmy Beckwith, and women's coach, Mark Murphy, for being so supportive throughout the season."
In his 18 seasons leading the Hornets, Riley has amassed 242 wins at Kalamazoo and 444 career victories overall. The 1982 Kalamazoo College graduate was a Division III All-American and two-time captain for the Hornets. Riley was inducted into the Kalamazoo College Athletic Hall of Fame in August 2022.
