Cameron Crosby Earns ITA Regional Rookie of the Year

Kalamazoo College's Cameron Crosby has been named the Central Region ITA Rookie of the Year, as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) on Monday, May 19.

The ITA Rookie of the Year honors a first-year student-athlete who made significant contributions to their team in the areas of leadership, sportsmanship, and performance.

Crosby becomes the fourth player in program history to earn this regional award, following Ian Yi, who last received the honor in 2019.

A freshman from South Lyon, Michigan, Crosby posted an impressive 18-5 singles record and a 14-8 mark in doubles play during the 2025 season, going a perfect 7-0 in both singles and doubles matches in the MIAA Conference. He primarily competed at three singles and one doubles.

Crosby was also selected to the All-MIAA First Team—one of only two freshmen to receive the honor—and earned MIAA Player of the Week on April 14.

Head Coach, Mark Riley, stated, "Cam had a stellar first year at #3 singles and #1 doubles and proved to be a force in the Central Region and the nation. We look for Cam's continued improvement as we move towards the 25-26 season."

The men's tennis team wrapped up the 2025 season with an impressive 15-6 overall record, including a perfect 7-0 run in conference play.

The Hornets claimed the top spot in the MIAA regular season standings, securing their 90th MIAA men's tennis championship.

They followed that up by winning the MIAA Tournament, earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championships before falling short to #62 Grinnell in the first round.
