Kalamazoo, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team came up short against Calvin, falling 16-11 on Wednesday night. With the loss, the Hornets drop to 6-4 overall and 1-2 in MIAA conference play.
The score remained tied in the first period at four a piece, before Calvin pulled ahead in the second, outscoring Kalamazoo 5-2 to take a 9-6 lead into halftime. The Hornets battled back in the third, narrowing the gap to 11-10, but the Knights closed strong with a 5-1 run in the final quarter to seal the win.
Calvin held the advantage in shots (44-40), ground balls (49-38), and face offs (23-8), while the Hornets' defense led with 28 forced turnovers.
Mitchel VanGalder paced the offense with a hat trick, adding three ground balls and an assist.
Tate Bless and
Logan Gillis each contributed two goals, with Gillis also tallying two assists and three ground balls.
Brody Quinn,
Dylan Adkins,
Grayson Pratt, and
Ethan Huebsch all found the back of the net for the Hornets. Adkins also notched a team-high three assists, along with three ground balls and a caused turnover.
Max Plesscher led the Hornets with five ground balls and one caused turnover, followed by
Jack Bungart, who had four ground balls and one caused turnover.

Charles Graves recorded 11 saves and now holds a 6-2 record in the net.

th, as they take on Adrian and 4:00 p.m.
