Holland, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team fell to Hope 18-8 on Tuesday night. With the loss, the Hornets move to 2-10 overall and 1-2 in MIAA conference play.
Hope took control early, building a 5-0 lead in the first quarter and extending it to 14-2 by halftime. Kalamazoo responded with a strong second half, outscoring the Flying Dutch 6-4, but were unable to complete the comeback.
The Flying Dutchmen held the advantage in shots (32-17) and draw controls (17-12), while the Hornets led in ground balls (16-15).
Kennedy Hynde and
Sophie Hartl led the Hornets' offense with two goals each. Hynde added on two assists, two caused turnovers, and two draw controls.
Ella Spooner,
Marin Miroslavich,
Tessa Fuller, and
Morgan Vasquez each found the back of the net for the Hornets.
Julia Kozal led the team with three draw controls and two caused turnovers, while
Annslee Ware and
Natalie Maki both recorded two draw controls on the day.
In goal,
Jordan Flink started and made five saves.
Kaitlyn Grice entered in the second quarter, also making five saves, and was credited with the loss.
The Hornets return to action on Saturday, April 12
th, as they take on Albion at 12:00 p.m.
