Hornets Fall Short Against Albion

Albion, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team came up short against Albion, falling 18-11 on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Hornets move to 6-3 overall and 1-1 in MIAA conference play.

The Britons jumped out early, taking a 5-2 lead in the opening quarter and extending it to 13-5 by halftime. Kalamazoo battled back in the second half, outscoring the Britons 6-5, but couldn't close the gap.

The Hornets held a narrow edge in shots (40-39) and ground balls (35-34), while Albion led in faceoffs, winning 18 to Kalamazoo's 14. Both teams forced 26 turnovers.

Dylan Adkins led the Hornets offensively with a hat trick, two ground balls, and a caused turnover. Cam VanGalder and Grayson Pratt each added two goals, with VanGalder also contributing four ground balls and two caused turnovers.

Brody Quinn, Jack Bungart, Mitchel VanGalder, and Logan Gillis also scored for Kalamazoo. Gillis tallied a team-high two assists, while Bungart led the defense with three caused turnovers.

Max Plesscher recorded a team-high seven ground balls, followed by Quinn with five and Colby Skinner with four.

In goal, Charles Graves recorded six saves in the first half, while Tony Valade matched that total with six more in the second.

The Hornets return home on Wednesday, April 9, when they host Calvin at 7:30 p.m. at Kalamazoo College.
