KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College baseball team swept Grace Christian University in a non-conference doubleheader Tuesday at Woodworth Field, 15-0 and 16-4. Kalamazoo improved to 22-11 with the wins. Grace Christian dropped to 16-26 overall.
Game One – Kalamazoo 15, Grace Christian 0
Kalamazoo scored at least one run in each inning while outhitting Grace 14-6. The Hornets also took advantage of five errors by the Tigers.
Caleb Moore finished 2-for-2 with three RBIs.
Austin Keur was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.
Clay Cook also had two hits and scored twice.
Logan Lockhart's double was Kalamazoo's only extra base hit.
Parker Aten went four innings in the win, striking out six and allowing three hits.
Reece Omodio threw two innings, striking out three and allowing two hits.
Alexi Simecek struck out three in the final inning while allowing one hit.
Game Two – Kalamazoo 16, Grace Christian 4
Kalamazoo led 14-1 after a seven-run third inning. The Hornets outhit Grace 11-6 in the game.
Logan Lockhart was 2-for-2 with a double, two RBIs, two stolen bases and three runs scored.
Cam Kelly was 2-for-2 with a run scored and three RBIs.
Cooper Mills and
Kieran Crossley each homered in the game. Crossley drove in three runs.
David Stechow walked twice, scored twice and stole three bases.
Kalamazoo used eight pitchers in the game.
Wyatt Ruppenthal got the start and was credited with the win while striking out two.
Gabe Sokol and
Cole Grupenhoff also struck out two batters each.
