Angola, Ind. – The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team defeated Trine 14-13 on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Hornets improved to 4-11 overall and 3-3 in MIAA Conference play.
Kalamazoo jumped out to an early 4-3 lead in the first period before taking a 9-5 advantage heading into halftime. Despite being outscored 8-5 in the second half, the Hornets held on to secure the win.
The Thunder held a slight advantage in shots (33-20), ground balls (23-18), and draw controls (16-15).
Ella Spooner led the Hornets' offense with five goals, three assists, six draw controls, and two caused turnovers.
Tessa Fuller contributed five goals and two assists.
Julia Kozal added two goals, four draw controls, and a ground ball, while
Natalie Maki and
Jordan Doyle each found the back of the net for the Hornets.
On the defensive end,
Mackenzie Newhall led the Hornets with four caused turnovers and four ground balls. Maki followed with three caused turnovers, and
Sophie Hartle added four ground balls and three draw controls.
Goalkeeper
Jordan Flink made 10 saves in net and picked up the win, improving her record to 3-8 on the season.

nd, as they host Adrian in their final home game of the season beginning at 7:00 p.m.
